I am a rising 2nd year Undergraduate student working on the further development of the NRTA device and its detection capabilities. Collaborating with graduate students will include characterizing the existing detector/scintillator setups available at the lab, in order to determine what configuration is optimal for use in NRTA, and how it can be improved. The research will also include characterizing the background signal detected by these detectors, what their sources are, and how they can be mitigated. In my individual project, where I will be characterizing the light output of an EJ-309 liquid scintillator and work on improving the existing models.
