Grigor is an upcoming 1st year PhD student working on the transmutation of long-lived fission products using proton irradiation. Utilizing Monte-Carlo transport codes such as PHITS and Geant4, he is investigating the feasibility of designing a facility that can deplete these fission products into stable or faster-decaying isotopes. This endeavor aims to address the issue of managing and reducing the substantial quantities of nuclear spent fuel that currently exist worldwide, which are mostly stored in dry casks. He received his Bachelor of Science in the American University of Armenia in Engineering Sciences and his Masters of Science from MIT in Nuclear Science and Engineering.
